I like washing dishes

Did you ever know that "look for the silver lining" is a double entendre in the girl's version of the song's lyrics?

She's washing pans and looking for the silver pan lining under all the nasty burnt-on bits. :)

I always thought it was just the edge of sunlight glinting on a cloud. This certainly brings the sentiment down into the average woman's kitchen in a practical way. :)

Look For The Silver Lining
From Till The Clouds Roll By (1946)
Music by Jerome Kern
Lyrics by Buddy DeSylva

Please don't be offended if I preach to you awhile,
Tears are out of place in eyes that were meant to smile.
There's a way to make your very biggest troubles small,
Here's the happy secret of it all.

Look for the silver lining
When e'er a cloud appears in the blue.
Remember some where the sun is shining,
And so the right thing to do,
Is make it shine for you.

A heart, full of joy and gladness,
Will always banish sadness and strife.
So always look for the silver lining,
And try to find the sunny side of life.

As I wash my dishes, I'll be following your plan,
Till I see the brightness in ev'ry pot and pan.
I am sure your point of view will ease the daily grind,
So I keep repeating in my mind.

Want to wash my dishes? I hate washing dishes. Also ironing. But I'd rather wash dishes than iron. I hate ironing so much I send my shirts out rather than try and do it myself.

washing dishes...

um, why do you *really* think jamie's marrying her?

Re: washing dishes...

It's been obvious to us long before we ever started dating. Back at the beginning of our friendship, I disliked cooking. He disliked washing dishes. He'd have those party-and-games potlucks and I'd volunteer to wash dishes.

Now I like cooking, too...but not as much as he likes cooking. Anyway, he still completely dislikes washing dishes, and I still enjoy it. :)

He's always been up front about how he's only marrying me because my house has a bigger kitchen. It's also got a significantly bigger automatic dishwasher. The fact that he prefers to use the dishwasher has delighted the woman who owns my house to no end, because she gets on me about it. I tend to never use it, and thus the hoses can rot out if they're left unused...

Speaking of which, she's also excited about him being in her laundry room because I'm a lackluster launderer, at best, and jcobleigh is very informed and proficient at it.
