for all those interested in the Apocalypse

Slashdot now has a "mark of the beast" category. Now, you could start going on about prophecy and how this proves the validity of the Bible, etc., but let's not forget the concept of self-fulfilling prophecy. If we've spent nearly 2000 years with the idea of a mark that restricts who can buy and sell things cogitating in our collective unconscious, it's no wonder that we've finally figured out how to do it. The real problem will be when the social, legal, and economic infrastructure requires it. And to think that I had friends in my childhood who refused to get those supermarket cards that would allow you to get the deals, because they thought the cards were the mark of the beast. ::sigh::
