electronic cornstarch

I'm starting research on a donor blood repository/blood transfusion case study. We're focusing on the computer system that does the electronic cross-matching of the transfusion recipient's blood type information to an appropriate unit of donor blood in the repository. The government contact who has access to all the relevant documents sent me instructions for how to log into the database and retrieve the documents.

He told me to type in the query "electronic cornstarch". I thought this was a little odd, but hey, if it's good enough for government work...

It turned out that the correct term was "electronic crossmatch". His automatic email spell-checker had "fixed" it for him.

The irony is that the "electronic cornstarch" search brought up about 60% of the correct documents, so it didn't tip me off as being incorrect.
