snoopy, darcy

on changing your name

In making appointments for things, I have just begun to enter the world of telling people, "It's spelled C-O-B-L-E-I-G-H. No, not T-H, GEEE-H. L-EEE-I. Yes." (more slowly) "C-O-B-L-E-I-G-H."

And it's pronounced, "cob lee." Not "cowb lye" or "cob lig" or "cowb lee-(mumble growl spit)."

I've been spoiled terribly by "Smith".

Blast from the past

Hey, Rachel! It's Mel! You know...PCCO Mel: Wrangler of Windows, Ubergeek Extraordinaire. Now I'm Georgia State Mel. Still an Ubergeek, but they won't let me play with Windows anymore. *sniff* I play with their network equipment instead. MUAHAHAHA!

Funny you mention last names... I still legally go by Lamoureux, though I informally go by Ferman, my married name. You'd think I'd jump at changing, especially since I've been married since February 2003. Nope. Spending a whole day standing in long lines at the SS office and the DMV have kept that from happening. Not that anyone gets 'Ferman' right, either. 'F-U-R-M-A-N?' 'F-U-H-R-M-A-N' No, like German with an F. '???' *Sigh*

Yes, you've been very spoiled by 'Smith'. :)

Drop me a line! mcsemel[at]bellsouth[dot]net. Hope everything is going well!

Hey! WOW!

How'd you find this journal?! :)

I heard that you just had a little girl! Wow...everybody changes. I'm getting married in 17 days. That's my big news for now. :) I'm still at UMass, chugging along towards a Ph.D. It's actually going well, so I'm not complaining. :)

Of course, "Lamoureux" is so much easier to spell than "Ferman"... :)
